Early in the morning we took JR Train service to Otaru (appx 30 mins). The weather was very good. Otaru its such a beautiful place, both day and night view. Especially at night when the gas street lights were lit up plus the soft background music from musical box being played. It made the whole place so fairy tale!
Start the day right with good breakfast at Sankaku fish market!
Grilled scallops
Two portions of salmon sashimi
Tri colour don (sea urchin, king crab & salmon roe)
Grilled Saba fish (my favorite!)
Condiments (mayo scallops, egg and sweet tofu &
membranes of scallops seasoned with miso)
After dining I asked the owner if I can take a photo of the crabs, she picked up one and place it nicely above the rest for me to take a photo:)
After the hearty breakfast we walked down to the famous canal.
warehouses along the canal (reminded me of Boat Quay before the renovation)
Shopping time! We walked to the lanes where there were many shop selling glass craft and confectionery
We tried different flavored ice cream (rock melon, green tea, lavender and kyoho grape)
honestly speaking the green tea and kyoho grape flavors tasted better
Glass pendent from one of the glass factory (like the coral like colour:)
End the day with a nice cup of coffee
And with macaroon of course:)
(tea & raspberries flavor )
Journeyed back to Sapporo and back to hotel.
We went to the Sapporo Factory. It was quite a bit of walking at night when you tried to figure out the direction. But we made it. lol!
We had dinner at one of the restaurant
Tonkatsu & ebi:)
The restaurant has very nice dressing sauce (sesame & onion sauce) for the cabbage salad. And a sourish HP like sauce for the Fried pork chop. (a must try if you are there!)
Tied to take a picture of the chimney (Hp camera not powerful enough:) )
